President’s Administration Plans Aid for Long COVID Effects

Strategizing interagency research to address long-term unknowns.

This week, President Biden and other administration officials briefed reporters on a federal plan to help care for citizens with long COVID. Long COVID commonly develops months after initial COVID-19 infection, and it is estimated that 7% of all U.S. adults have some form of Long COVID. The interagency effort will seek to educate citizens on what Long COVID is, enhance outreach to those affected, and expand scientific research into the phenomenon.

“Long COVID is real, and there is still so much we don’t know about it,” said Health Secretary Xavier Becerra at the briefing. “Millions of Americans may be struggling with lingering health effects, ranging from things that are easier to notice, like troubling — trouble breathing or irregular heartbeat, to less apparent but potentially serious conditions related to the brain or mental health.”

As the Lord Leads, Pray with Us…

  • For Secretary Becerra to seek God’s leading as he oversees public health education.
  • For U.S. health officials as they assess and identify symptoms and prognosis of the long-term effects of the virus.
  • For discernment for the president and his administration as they craft strategies to address the pandemic aftermath.
